I'm a primary school teacher. I've had a varied and interesting professional life that has nearly always involved working with children, something I love doing.
Recently, I have been pushing myself to get back to creative Mel who would rock up to college in skirts I made out of old pair of jeans or make craftsy presents for friends and family rather than submitting to forced commercialism.
In May 2013, I dusted off my old Singer machine, started having private lessons with Jennie from CheekyHandMades and got back in to drawing and painting. I am using this blog to journal my successes (and possible failures).
I live with my fiance in East London.
We have two cats, Muffin and Khan.

I'm not a fan of Facebook but I am on these other social networks: Instagram, Google+ , Twitter, Craftsy and CraftStylish.
Oh, and if you are wondering why Montag and Mildred; Farenheit 451 is one of my favourite books. Without ruining it for those who haven't read it, Mildred's existence is centred around television and cutting herself off from the world whereas Montag is focused on self-discovery. In a very hackneyed way, I see this blog as bringing the two sides of me (Montag and Mildred) together to create something beautiful.
